The Shedd Aquarium has announced the death of Jump a 30 year old male pacific white sided dolphin on breeding loan from Sea World San Antonio. Jump was one of the oldest White Sided Dolphins in captivity in North America. He began showing his age over the last year. A rare Coelacanth was caught live off the northern tip of Zanzibar. The fish measured 1.34 meters in length and had a weight of 27kg. There are currently 2 known populations of Coelacanth in the world, with a possible third population.

On April 29th of this year, A 7 1/2 foot-long 170lb female sturgeon was found in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Georgia Aquarium Announced yesterday that it has euthanized Norton, the remaining male whale shark from the aquarium's original two.  Norton had been force fed exclusively since the being exposed to a chemical treatment for leaches in the large tank.  Norton is the second whale shark to fall victim to this event.  Ralph, another male shark similarly exposed died 5 months ago.

The Living Planet Aquarium has recently redesigned their Jellyfish exhibits.  Where they formally only displayed Moon Jellies, they now display Upside down jellies and sea nettles as well.  A unique aspect of the exhibit is the new custom soundtrack for the space composed by Doug Morton.
